What does this mean?

This is a vintage 20th century large Royal Doulton figurine of a seated Springer Spaniel Hunting Dog with Pheasant in his mouth. Technically, the definition of an 'antique' is any object 100 years old and and older. The HN1137 was produced from 1937-1966, so it is still vintage and not yet antique. The figure was designed for Doulton by Frederick Daws (b.1879) an English Royal Academician painter who in 1930 became the main designer of Champion Dog Models for the firm. Though you mention no chips, cracks or damage, there does appear to be hairlines, possibly only in the top layer of the glaze, in the photo of the underside. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.

I am not only angry at the false appraisal from ''Mearto.com'' but I feel cheated and defrauded by this site in general. An '' expert'' gave the appraisal at between 135 to 300 dollars, and then directed me to a so called ''trusted partner '' auction site...catawiki...who in turn gave away my object for 35 dollars...what a bunch of crooks! Obviously someone is either lying, or receiving kickbacks or some such other scam...you are nothing but criminals and should be charged as such. Not only will I never use these sites again, but i will caution any seller against using them. If I could, I would report you to the police in my jurisdiction...unfortunately, this is a case of ''buyer beware'' and I am required to ship the object...don't use either of these sites

I am not associated with any auction sites. The estimate is based on actual recent past auction sales that are recorded on a subscriber database. An appraiser has no control over how an auction sale ends nor is an appraisal a guarantee of an item selling in that range.
