What does this mean?

This is a large sized 6'7" tall x 5'1"wide x 3'8" deep antique, late 19th century, Victorian era, double-door entry lock safe that was produced by the Joseph L. Hall Safe and Lock Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is constructed with 3 sets of doors and 4 combinations to ensure extra safety and all combinations are known and mechanisms are functioning. The safe features a japanned black surface and all hand executed tole painting in gilding and red with hand painted landscape scenes, one featuring a homestead on land. The interior metal is damascened or niello for an Italianate surface decoration and the shelf partitions are carved with open fretwork with hand block print paper lining. When the original owner ordered this safe, they chose all the bells and whistles to be included. Joseph L. Hall began his safe business in 1847 and also invented several patent protected mechanisms to improve the door locks and entry systems. The business was active under the name "Joseph L. Hall's Safe and Lock Company from 1867 - 1982". The latest patent date cited on this is 1873, however, based on the style of the tole painting and overall decoration, this safe was produced in the late 1880's. The 1873 Patent is number US 136239 A, which is for improved hinges. There are some condition issues to the tole painting on the front door that appear to have been from exposure to elements and that will impact value. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
