This is a vintage, mid 20th century print on paper. Although the surface itself does resemble a charcoal or pencil medium, the margin, plate mark, signature in margin and most especially the edition numbers all indicate that this is a limited edition, signed and numbered print. Original prints such as this are first created by executing the image on to a metal plate. The plate is then inked and pressed onto a piece of paper to transfer the image. The platemark is the indentation in the paper around the image which is left after transfering the ink on the plate to the paper. On prints, there will always be a margin around the image. Limited edition prints will have the total number and another number to indicate this one is the 23rd of 100 multiples made of this image. The signature, unfortunately is illegible. If deciphered this could be valued higher depending on the artist and how their works sell in the current market. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.

I do have a question...my mother has at least 30 artworks I know nothing about...I need to invest in a tape measure! I live in the SF Bay Area...I don’t mine using Mearto online, but was wondering if Meaeto could give me a referral to take all the artworks in person for appraisals and possible sale?
Hi, A tape measure would be a very good idea as size is a factor in some valuations. For an in-person appraisal For an appraisal you will really want to work with an accredited appraiser who is a member of one of 3 appraiser associations. To find one who specializes in in your area, you will go to each of the 3 sites and enter your location into their 'find an appraiser' directories. From there, you will contact each qualified appraiser who fcomes up in your area and they will relay to you their fees for service.

What is the size? Please add more clear, in-focus, close-up images of the signature from different angles and also check the back side for any tags or labels or written information.
